The Quarry Golf
Renowned golf course architect, Tom Fazio, masterfully designed what is often referred to as the "Golfer's Golf Course." By harnessing the three unique elevations offered by the site, he created three very distinct playing areas. There are seven holes on the quarry floor and 80 feet above at the alluvial fan, there are seven more. The scenic vista of the mountain cove serves as the backdrop to the four holes found at the final elevation. Golfers playing the course will encounter a gradual elevation of more than 300 feet as they experience the harmony that is nature and golf.
At the center is the picturesque 10th hold where a striking waterfall cascades down to a stream allowing golfers to play against the quarry wall. Throughout the course, players are courted to compete with the surrounding desert terrain, as in the 14th hole where golfers play off of a natural ravine. Adding to the lush scenery of over 80,000 indigenous plants are an abandoned western mine, a genuine Indian trail, and a number of bronze statues depicting the early cowboy days.
